NHS England

In partnership with NHS England, our CPR Community Network has empowered more people with life-saving skills.

With funding from NHS England (April 2023-March 2025), we were able to launch our CPR Community Network. Our programme aims to increase the survival rate of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in England, particularly in areas with the greatest health inequalities. To achieve this, we created a range of first aid resources, free awareness sessions for local communities and events, and nation-wide public awareness campaigns.

As part of our CPR Community Network, we have:

  • delivered 1,793 free first aid awareness sessions to 92,641 members of the public

  • created a range of accessible and translated first aid resources

  • taught over 209,500 people life-saving first aid skills through Restart a Heart Day and Save a Life September

  • launched our award-winning PR campaign, CPR Bra, to highlight gender disparity in receiving CPR

More about our work together

New first aid resources

To reach those most affected by health inequalities and to help communities who might be at higher risk, we've created a range of accessible and translated first aid resources.

Accessible first aid resources

Our free accessible first aid resources include British Sign Language (BSL) videos and easy read booklets covering a range of essential first aid topics.

Translated first aid resources

Together, we’ve also produced a range of free first aid resources translated into different languages to help communities who may be at higher risk. Our resources are free to download and explain how to do CPR and how to use a defibrillator (AED) to help someone’s chance of survival.

We currently have first aid resources available in Urdu, Polish, and Punjabi.

A special thanks to the British Islamic Medical Association for also working with us to create our Urdu first aid resources.

Free first aid awareness sessions

Driven by our vision to put the power of first aid into everybody’s hands, we provide free first aid awareness sessions for local community groups, events, and schools.

The sessions can take place online or face-to-face and cover essential life-saving skills such as CPR and treating severe bleeding, all led by our qualified volunteer first aid experts.
